WINSFORD Town Council has reaffirmed their opposition to a development of more than a hundred houses after developers lodged an appeal with the Government.

Darnhall Estate has asked the Secretary of State to overturn Cheshire West and Chester Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for 116 new houses on land off Darnhall School Lane.

Planning inspectors are due to publish their decision on the appeal in the coming days.

In submitted appeal documents, Darnhall Estate has argued that the development should be permitted on the grounds of Cheshire West and Chester lacking a five-year housing supply.

Winsford Town Council said Darnhall Estate’s plan represented an ‘over development of a rural location with a loss of amenity and open space’.

They also raised concerns about the development’s impact on traffic and school placements.
