STUDENTS have been enlisted to help a Northwich children’s charity achieve its goal.
Three second year students from the University of Chester are working with The Joshua Tree on fundraising and marketing for five weeks.
Emily Rose Pike, from Staffordshire, Melissa Hodgkinson, from Northwich, and Sophie Jones, from Hertfordshire, are all studying business and events management degree courses.
They have been selected by The Joshua Tree to help generate awareness and raise funds to build a holiday house and support centre for families of children with cancer at a site in Sandiway.
Lynda Hill, founder of The Joshua Tree, said: “The students have proved highly creative and enthusiastic during the interview process and we’re keen to see how they can make a difference to our events over the next month or so.”
Julia Ball, Work Based Learning Manager from the University of Chester adds: “The hands on experience that Sophie, Emily Rose and Melissa will gain through working with the team at The Joshua Tree will be incredibly valuable towards their final degree work and in gaining an understanding of how their studies can be applied practically when they leave University.
“In addition, the skills they will develop during the placement will enhance their employability prospects upon graduation.”
