THE Grange School will open its doors to the latest school production: Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest this week.
Oscar Wilde was known for his wit, charm and genius with words and ‘Earnest' one of his best known works is described as a ‘trivial comedy for serious people'.
With its themes of identity, morality and respectability Wilde held up a mirror to Victorian society and invited his audience to laugh at the picture he presented whether they recognised themselves or not. With its well-known characters and classic Wilde-isms this is sure to be a popular production.
For the first time in the school theatre the performance will be set ‘in the round' which gives a whole new perspective for the audience and a range of challenges to the actors.
The school is staging three performances on: Thursday, March 6; Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8 at 7pm in The Grange School Theatre, Bradburns Lane. Tickets cost £8 adults £6 children (under 16). Refreshments will be available during the interval.
