WHEN Kingsley woman Jane Albinson decided to put her home on the market last year, she never imaged it would lead to it being viewed by more than two million people.

But that’s exactly what happened when Jane’s estate agent, Wright Manley, was contacted by BBC2’s Escape to the Country.

“My property was shortlisted as one of seven potential properties that could be used and later in the week, it developed that my property was top of this list,” explained the 33-year-old, whose parents live in nearby Norley.

“The production team arrived at 9am on Monday to view the property and make sure it lived up to expectations.

“They were extremely effusive about the property and I was delighted that Meeting House Cottage was picked as one of their potential dream homes.

“The filming itself spanned over two mornings. The first gladly was dry and the camera crew filmed what they refer to as a ‘moving brochure’ – panning each room.

“The second day involved the full team including the presenter and the all important potential purchaser.

“Sadly, I wasn’t around for this aspect as the producer felt that often the seller of the property being present makes the process even more nerve racking for the viewers.

“Unfortunately the buyers didn’t put an offer in but it was still great to be a part of it.”

The programme will now be edited, with the BBC then deciding when to air it.

Jane, a financial consultant who works in Manchester, bought the cottage in 2008 and quickly set to work in transforming it into the beautiful home it is today.

“I spent eight months undertaking a full refurbishment of the property as well as adding a small extension,” explained Jane, who is due to get married in July.

“My aim was to inject some character into the house whilst at the same time creating a modern family home.

“It was a project of passion and love. I’ll miss the peace and tranquillity of living there so much.

“My fiancé is a doctor in Manchester and needs to be close enough for his on calls, so sadly Meeting House Cottage is no longer a long-term proposition for us.”

Despite an offer not being made, Jane is still optimistic.

She said: “I hope being on the programme will increase interest and maybe even generate a sale. Perhaps not just for my house but the area in general.

“I think it’s very difficult to make such a quick decision on such a big purchase, especially if you don’t know the area very well.”

“I’d always pick this area though, even when looking to move to Manchester, we’ll still be in Cheshire - just about.”
