Tilda Swinton could star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange.
The Oscar-winning actress is in negotiations to portray the Ancient One, the Tibetan mystic who is a mentor to Dr Strange, in the film, The Hollywood Reporter says.
The Marvel Studios film, being directed by horror movie maker Scott Derrickson, is due out next year.
Marvel confirmed Benedict would be playing the neurosurgeon-turned-superhero last year after Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix was previously linked to the part.
In the comics, the Tibetan mystic has been male, but the studio rethought the role and has now made it female, The Hollywood Reporter says.
Tilda will next be seen in Judd Apatow’s new comedy, Trainwreck.
