FORTNITE players thought their gaming life had been sucked into 'black hole'.

But the hugely popular multiplayer game is back online after a publicity stunt which saw the virtual battlefield hit by an asteroid.

To mark the end of Fortnite's 10th season, players saw an in-game meteor shower which appeared to wipe out the map.

They were then sucked into a rift and the screen was replaced with a black hole in the centre.

There was even a livestream of the black hole on Fortnite's Twitter page which prompted almost 135,000 comments.

Since Sunday night, the game had been offline but now, there's a trailer to the new season confirming its return to its elated fans.
