A BAND hotly-tipped to make their breakthrough in 2019 will be playing at Friars Court at the weekend.

The Zangwills, whose line-up includes bassist Ed Dowling from Thelwall, will be playing at the Barbauld Street venue on Saturday with support from Strangers and Hollow Vandals.

The alternative group formed in May 2017 when Jake Vickers, Ed Dowling and Sam Davies met at Sir John Deane's College in Northwich.

The line-up was completed by drummer Adam Spence from Chester.

Despite forming in Northwich, the four-piece have always had a strong Warrington following which resulted in some high profile slots including playing alongside Fun Lovin’ Criminals at Warrington Music Festival and performing at RivFest, in memory of Viola Beach guitarist River Reeves.

The Zangwills can also count Tim Burgess among their fans after being chosen as one of only three acts for The Sound City stage, alongside The Tea Street Band and Red Rum Club, as part of The Charlatans' North by Northwich festival in May.

Tickets can be bought via Friars Court's Facebook page.

The following Saturday at the venue on December 15 will see The Smiths' Mike Joyce doing a DJ set.
