A TV channel is set to be axed permanently this week as part of the latest shakeup.
Sky continues to update its services and will be making changes to several channels.
Some will see name changes, which is a common thing for Sky customers, but another is set to disappear.
Sky to remove news channel from listings this week
All the changes will be rolled out from today (June 1), and on Tuesday, local news channel London TV (Satellite 117) will be permanently removed from Sky listings.
The channel will still be able to be viewed on standard Freeview channel 8 and Virgin Media channel 159.
Some channels will be getting a temporary name change. These are:
- SkyDecadesHD (Satellite 302 – Sky Glass/Stream 302) to SkyDirectorsHD
- Sky Batman HD (Satellite 303 – Sky Glass/Stream 303) to Sky Pride HD
- Sky Pride HD (Satellite 303 – Sky Glass/Stream 303) to SkyAnimationHD
A permanent name change is also coming to a children's channel, with Nick Jr Peppa (Satellite 612 – Glass/Stream 208 Glass) being renamed to Nick Jr. Too.
Sky has advised viewers that channel numbers may differ based on their bundle and location.
Customers who notice channels missing or incorrectly listed are advised to reboot their Sky box to refresh the Electronic Programme Guide.
The changes follow Crime and Justice, which was available on channel 1024 via Sky Glass and Sky Stream, closing permanently recently.
The channel featured real-life and true-crime programmes, including Britain’s Darkest Taboos, What the Killer Did Next, Stop Search Seize, and Highway Cops.
Freeview makes 4 changes in latest update
Meanwhile, those with Freeview have been urged to retune their TV's amid four changes in the latest update.
The new update features four changes and is already live on all Freeview TVs.
The channel changes being made as part of the latest Freeview update are:
Channel name change
- Hobbycraft TV to Shop Unlimited (channel 97)
- Great! Romance Mix to Great! TV +1 (channel 61)
Channel moves
- Great! Movies - channel 61 to 62
- Great! TV +1 - channel 62 to 61
To retune your TV, follow these steps:
- Press 'Menu' on your box or TV remote control.
- Select ‘Set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’ or a similar option. If you’re asked for a password, the default code is ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
- Select ‘First-time installation’ (sometimes called ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’ or ‘default settings’).
- Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you’re prompted to, save the channels that are found.
