Pansy Boy
Paul Harfleet is an artist, writer and designer who plants pansies at the site of homophobic abuse; he finds the nearest source of soil to where the incident occurred and plants one unmarked pansy.
This simple action operates as a gesture of quiet resistance; some pansies flourish and others wilt in urban hedgerows.
As part of this year’s Homotopia festival, St Helens has the privilege of hosting Paul for a range of events:
Using a combination of photography, original illustration and drawings made in St Helens’ Libraries, Paul Harfleet shares a unique exhibition informed by The Pansy Project, drawings and the exploration of the issues his work investigates.
