DEREK MORRIS Derek Charles Morris on 6 May 2020, peacefully in hospital aged 85. Derek, from Whitchurch lived in Moulton and was Head of English at Sir John Deane's Grammar School, later Sixth Form College for many years. He produced dozens of successful plays at the school and until recently was an active member of the Moulton Drama Group. Derek was much loved, a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A private cremation will take place on 18 May and a memorial service in celebration of his life will be arranged at a later date. Derek was my English teacher at & Sir John Dean’s in the 60’s He was accessible and a breath of fresh air. I connected with him musically, encouraging our fledgling musical endeavors He introduced me to Jazz (trips to see American Jazz groups in Manchester) and to the art films of the 60’s. He brought poetry and plays alive for me. An open minded soul he was very much appreciated and I regret not having kept in touch. Bon voyage Derek. Many thanks.

Derek was my English teacher at Sir John Deanes in 1988. What a wonderful teacher and a great man. RIP Derek x
