Birthday publication brought back memories

CONGRATULATIONS on the publication of your 150th year anniversary edition supplement! I have enjoyed reading it. It brought back memories.

I went to primary school with Ruth Eaton. I remember Maurice Carver at Knutsford. You mention Ernest Buckley. Was this Trevor Buckley from Greenbank?

The Knutsford Guardian office window being stripped out on a non-publishing day. On a black background, a notice: LORD EGERTON DEAD. It must have worried many local people, as he was the principal landowner in the town and area.

Receiving copies of the locals, sent by my mother, when I did my National Service in Germany.

Thank you for publishing many of my rambling letters over the years. Some complimentary, some not so. Often about spelling or grammar Please would you mention when advertisements were last published on the front page, and the date your last edition was published in a broadsheet format.

DENIS CAIN Highbank Road, Greenbank

Editor’s note: Trevor and Ernest Buckley were different people, not related but both Warrington editors at different times. Ernest was deputy when Trevor was editor.
