Thanks to those who braved the bad weather

IN reply to Jane Meldon’s letter, Guardian, January 27, in praise of her postman Paul, I would like to say a big thank you to all postmen and women.

During the atrocious weather, they still managed to deliver our mail. Unlike the bin men, who were conspicuous by their absence, the postie has to walk up each drive or path, they can’t leave the mail at the end of the drive as the bin men do with the bins. Also we must not forget the paperboys and girls, and milkmen, all delivering a service that makes life easier for us. So to you all, your work is very much appreciated.

One last point, a note to the government and post office managers, “hands off” the postal service. It might not be wonderful, but it works, and don’t forget that the customer is the most important person in all these plans you have.
