WOULD anyone from the Highways Agency care to comment on the logic of installing a Toucan crossing at the bottom of the Winsford High Street dual carriageway when there is a perfectly good subway with disabled access less than 20 metres away?
If there are problems with the drainage and security of the subway then spending a few thousan pounds installing pumps and CCTV is surely better than installing a pedestrian crossing next to a three-lane roundabout.
Pedestrians and roads just do not mix.
A crossing at that point will only succeed in gridlocking the roundabout at peak times with a high likelihood of pedestrian casualities.
I would welcome comments from anyone interested.
