Simple solution to gridlock problems in Northwich

IN reply to N Brown’s letter, Guardian, December 30, I wrote on the subject of congestion in November 2006, and would like to reiterate the points mentioned.

With regard to the gridlock problems, there are three simple solutions. Change the one-way system past Barons Quay to exit at the Bull Ring, rather than enter as it is at present.

All Castle traffic entering town down Castle Hill be made to turn right over Hayhurst Bridge.

This will make traffic flow over Town Bridge easier to Castle and up Winnington Hill.

And finally, reopen Marbury Lane one-way only to exit town to Anderton, Barnton, Comberbach, etc.
