Worse off than race horese and teenagers

1:10pm Wednesday 10th June 2009

AS pensioners, we watch a fair amount of television.

Recently, two items stirred our attention, which we related to the annual basic pensioners income. One was mentioned in a horseracing programme, and we were amazed that it takes £25,000 annually to maintain one racehorse.

The other was a programme on teenagers, and it was stated it takes £9,000 per year, or £180 per week to keep an average teenager in the manner they are accustomed to.

A basic pension is just £4,680 per year. Obviously pensioners are so much handicapped they are classed as non-starters.
