A pantomine?

1:50pm Friday 19th February 2010

ALAN Lowe seems to be casting for a new pantomime, (Guardian, February 10). Could I suggest Peter Mandelson as the Demon King and Gordon Brown as Baron Hardup?

Did council really listen to public over car park charges?

1:10pm Friday 12th February 2010

I WAS interested to see that your paper reported a Cheshire East spokesman stating that the council’s decision not to impose parking charges in Middlewich was due entirely to their response to local opinion. Clearly they refute the claim that pressure had been put on them from higher up the political scale following my letter to Mr Cameron. Whether Mr Cameron was, or was not, involved is irrelevant. What really matters is that the council’s claim to have acted following discussions with ward members and hearing representations from the public and traders has now been confirmed. This simple reiteration of their previous statement should now be sufficient to bury the idea for good. The views of the local ward members, public and traders will never alter.

1:27pm Wednesday 10th February 2010

IT was encouraging to see a handful of local county councillors at the CHAIN (Cheshire anti-incinerator Network) public meeting, the subject matter being the Tata/Brunner Mond proposals to build a waste incinerator in our town.

Toucan crossing is not a good idea

12:30pm Tuesday 9th February 2010

WOULD anyone from the Highways Agency care to comment on the logic of installing a Toucan crossing at the bottom of the Winsford High Street dual carriageway when there is a perfectly good subway with disabled access less than 20 metres away?
