THIS part of Cheshire will not know what hits it if this HS2 project proceeds.
The disruption in the High Legh/ Millington area alone will make commuting to Manchester intolerable as HS2 takes thousands of acres of agricultural land for the actual route, Manchester spur and Golborne link to the West Coast Mainline.
This will see the A56, A50 and new A556 re routed with many local lanes closed or altered. The volume of lorries taking materials to depots on narrow country lanes will make life intolerable for residents and is impractical.
In addition to these two routes, a HS3 proposed route is lurking in the background.
Liverpool to Warrington through High Legh and joining HS2 south of the station at the airport.
If this goes ahead , it would be much cheaper to take a spur from HS3 to Golborne north of Warrington and cancel the current costly Golborne link. It is ridiculous to run two routes. The whole HS2b route north of Crewe is fraught with problems and it should be sidelined until a more cohesive and cost effective regional plan can be agreed.
