PLEASE can anyone tell me why time, money and energy is spent putting out ‘no waiting’ cones around the roads leading to and from the Royal Cheshire Showground at Tabley?

No waiting cones are placed during the day preceding the show, with the vast majority being sited along Pickmere Lane, Park Lane and all adjoining roads which, all readers know, are narrow country roads and lanes.

This signage is extended into Wincham and Lower Wincham with signs directing show traffic along these routes for entry and exits from the show.

All this is fine but there is then no monitoring of the roads on which the cones are placed with the result that cars and vans were parked on Pickmere Lane, Park Lane and Church Street, Wincham and Lower Wincham.

Some cones were even removed during the days of the show, all of which meant that horrendous queues were evident and the free flow of the show traffic particularly on exit was impossible.

If someone goes to the trouble of putting these cones out before the show, surely they should be monitored during the days of the show, if this is not going to happen why put cones out in the first place?
