READERS who may be using the new toll bridge at Runcorn beware.
We used the toll one way on Saturday to do a drop-off at the airport and promptly paid online on Sunday without any obvious issues.
As we had not received email confirmation of the payment by Tuesday evening we rang the help line - and guess what?
Their system sometimes won’t process payments being made from an Apple iPhone because it doesn’t like the Safari browser.
Luckily they could see in the system we had tried to pay and took payment over the phone - otherwise we could well have a letter or fine that we would have had to contest.
To coin a phrase, ‘you couldn’t make it up’.
So use a different browser and make sure you check you have been sent a receipt.
