I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree with the comments made by Fly in the Ointment last week - especially relating to parking on the pavement, which appears to have become the accepted norm.
I have just witnessed a wheelchair user having to divert into the road near me because the pavement was completely blocked by inconsiderate parking.
What I don’t understand is the logic in such parking.
Whilst there are exceptions, most roads in town are two vehicle widths wide, plus a bit.
That clearly allows two vehicles to pass each other.
Parking half on the road/half on the pavement reduces the width to one and half cars so, apart from bicycles and motorcycles, two vehicles can no longer pass - which is no different from parking fully on the road.
I could of course be cynical and think that drivers are more worried about their wing mirrors than the inconvenience to pedestrians!
