THIS week Cheshire East Council banned a man from having bottombearing gnomes in his garden as they pose a risk to highway safety to pedestrians and motorists as they could be a distraction and cause an accident.

Could this pedestrian ‘Elf and Safety’ department be the same council which failed to install a safe crossing point for little people on Nantwich Road (A530) at Middlewich?

And during recent re-lining have painted a ‘turn right’ arrow pointing into the pub car park on Newton Bank for traffic entering Middlewich town centre (A54)?

‘Imp-pending’ safety also on Centurion Way by failing to remark the white linage at the junction for Byley?

Plus there are no road markings on the roundabout on the junction of the A54 and Croxton Lane.

The offending pensioner showing the dwarf display in the Cheshire village near Crewe said he could pick another trousered gnome to cover up the distraction.

Let’s wish him all the best with any future floral display.
