I READ with interest the debacle over Cheshire East Council recordings of pollution levels.

Some years ago when I lived close to Booth Lane we used to get a salt deposit on our cars and house and my father suspected this originated from the scrubbers (filters) from a nearby salt works.

My father was advised by the council that this deposit came from the Atlantic Ocean.

As the world spins on an annual basis I wonder if this phenomenon still occurs?

Oh yes and we were advised that the officer on call could not operate the equipment when called out.

With the construction of more housing in the area I would imagine that pollution from traffic is increasing and I wonder when provisional planning is referred to the highways for assessment is this taken into account?
