I NOTE from the Guardian, April 4 edition, that Tata proposes to go ahead with the energy from waste plant at Lostock.
When approval was given for the go-ahead after a public enquiry, it had been made clear that the existing rail link to the works would be employed to convey waste to the site.
I assume that this had a large bearing on the decision that was made.
I remember a report in the Guardian some time ago which stated that it had been found that the railway was ‘not suitable’ and would not be useable.
If this is the case, is not a completely new application by Tata required omitting the benefits of railway transportation to the site?
Could someone please clarify.
