YOUR correspondent R Cauley who writes an invective about Cllr Sam Naylor is mistaken.

1. There is no evidence that Cllr Naylor is against Memorial Court.

In fact just the opposite.

Like all people who care about Northwich town centre he welcomes the town centre facilities created and the increasingly popular destination it has become.

2. This does not deny that the architectural design of Memorial Court is devoid of the slightest acknowledgement that the overwhelming evidence from the majority of the people of Northwich expect that their town centre will reflect the traditional black and white architecture.

3. Barons Quay remains the work of a previous political regime.

It may have been designed and developed in good faith but apart from the cinema and the Asda store it remains a building site.

You can be both for and against but unless it becomes an attractive shopping/leisure destination enhancing Northwich as a riverside town the huge investment will be a cost to Cheshire West and its residents for a very long time.

4. Mr Cauley is attempting to discredit Cllr Naylor.

His scatter gun approach is without any merit or substance.

His side swipe to suggest that he had the slightest influence at the failure to widen Winnington Bridge is palpable nonsense.

5. Cllr Naylor is an extremely hard working and conscientious councillor and his commitment to Northwich is without blemish.
