WHAT a great walk until you begin to notice the scores of dog poo bags hanging from branches, or left lying by the path or in the hedges and undergrowth by the path.

Are some dog owners plain stupid, ignorant, selfish or downright uncaring?

It’s completely unacceptable to leave your ‘full’ dog poo bags on your walk.

What do you think’s going to happen to them?

They’ll self destruct, evaporate or are you so selfish that you expect someone else to pick up your poo bags and dispose of them?

If you forget or run out of poo bags it’s your responsibility to move your dog’s mess out of the way so that it can decompose harmlessly (not ideal as wild or farm animals could come into contact with the faeces, become infected or spread it to other livestock).

There’s absolutely no excuse for anyone leaving dog poo bags in the countryside.

It’s a form of environmental vandalism of the worst kind.

Maybe a dog’s DNA should be chipped so that dog poo bag vandals can be traced and then heavily fined, say a £1,000 for starters.

The countryside is for everyone to enjoy and those dog owners who clearly don’t give a stuff about the potential harm their selfishness causes should be ashamed of themselves and should be held accountable for ruining many a good walk.
