THOSE of us who oppose HS2, know that there is no point in asking Graham Evans MP for support; even though local polls have shown 85 per cent of us are against HS2.

So much for the ideal of an MP representing his or her constituents views. I’m not aware that he has ever asked his constituents for their views.

The day after the current revised route was announced; he asked a question at PMQ’s on November 16, asking his ‘Right Honourable Friend’ to join him in welcoming the announcement of the proposed route change; to which Theresa May said she knew that he had ‘championed the HS2 project since it was first announced in 2012’.

His question failed to mention the severe impact the revised route would have on Morrisons Warehouse Complex, Robert’s Bakery, Gadbrook Park nor did it mention the necessity to re-align the A556, one of the busiest roads in Cheshire.

He has consistently claimed that Weaver Vale will benefit from HS2 inspired prosperity and the creation of new jobs.

It is so easy to say but impossible to verify.

With Brexit on the horizon and with the value of sterling dropping by some 20 per cent, the foundations for his claims have been severely undermined.
