A FEW years ago while Vale Royal District Council “ruled” our locality we had about 1,800 houses built at Kingsmead.

In addition to all those houses the community got a new spine road, a primary school, a pub, shops and surgery.

We’re now being ruled by Chester West and Chester Council.

Approximately 1,200 houses are being built in a new Winnington village.

It is rumoured that this number will grow significantly if the old Soda Ash plant site is developed on the north side of the A533.

During the consultation phase the developers talked of providing a primary school, shops and some light industrial units.

The same developers also said that the increase in traffic resulting from the 1,200 houses would not have a significant impact on the traffic in the area or over Winnington swing bridge.

Winnington village is now growing at a very fast rate, but the proposed school, shops and other community facilities mentioned initially by the developers are no longer on the agenda and other local schools are having to expand significantly to cope.

So CWAC, how did VRDC get all those facilities for Kingsmead and yet you haven’t got the same for Winnington Village?

In fact, there’s nothing for the wider community other than some sets of traffic lights going into Hartford for the traffic that we’re told won’t have a significant impact on the area.

Can anyone enlighten me?
