SOMETHING wonderful happened to me this week.

Something so exciting and unbelievable I had to tell the world about it.

Late afternoon, every day, I have to make a journey from Weaverham to Castle.

On the day in question I managed to complete the the journey to Castle post office in a magnificent 21 minutes and 45 Seconds.

Let me say that again 21 minutes and 45 seconds.

Unbelievable, a reduction of over 30 per cent on my average time of 35 minutes.

I was absolutely astounded, so much so at journey’s end I had to sit back, close my eyes and take a few minutes to contemplate what had just happened.

Stupidly, I was one of those who objected to the never-ending developments in the area fearing like many others that the transport infrastructure simply couldn’t cope with increased demand.

How wrong I was. Never once did I dream that the hundreds of thousands spent at the top of Burrows Hill would have such a dramatic reduction on journey times. I can barely control my excitement.

As the roads wear out and we become surrounded by men in hard hats and high- vis jackets digging holes with their wrecking machines further dramatic improvements can be made.

Just think it may soon be possible to complete the length of Bradburns Lane in peak times in under ten minutes.

It’s the stuff of dreams!

Should planning permission ever be sought for a garrison of civil engineers in the locality I’d happily support it.

I bow to the superior knowledge and intellect of Mr Eric Pickles and the powers that be.

Merry Christmas.
