I note from the article in this week’s Guardian that Cheshire East are to introduce a reversal of traffic flow of Darlington Street to bring traffic into Wheelock Street.
I do not dispute that residents should have parking out side their homes – but do the ward councillors not think this will put extra traffic into Wheelock Street, increasing the risk of collisions at this junction?
And where do they surmise will the traffic go then?
It will have to all go to the junction on St Michael’s Way to the junction by Lidl (Red Lion house) thus causing further delay and chaos at that junction and increased risk of accidents.
Assuming the ward members get their way and traffic is brought to the Red Lion junction, it will have to go back on to Nantwich Road to the already congested, accident prone junction for access to St Anne’s Road.
Will people still shop in Wheelock Street?
Will Darlington Street become a rat run for traffic avoiding St Anne’s Road? I bet the residents, Kinderton ward members and Cheshire East highways have not thought of this one.
In future a shopping trip to Middlewich will be fleeting.
I would urge residents to contact the council if they feel this improved traffic flow will be a pantomime.
