I READ with interest the two letters of Alan Lowe and Joe Reacher.

As regards professional drama and the Memorial Court this may stem back to the tragic ‘removal’ of our beloved ‘Morg’ building which is not as far-fetched as it may sound.

Without going into specifics just do a simple then-and-now comparison for example size, public support/patronage, history, friendliness, nostalgia, atmosphere and aesthetic appearance.

All in all no comparison but I will grant you one thing – general apathy, coupled with a ‘not trendy’ town profile.

As for the Winnington village development, what a shambles in terms of infrastructure, a total planning catastrophe… lack of insufficient roads (bridges!) schools and medical centres to ‘service’ it properly as with ‘other’ mid Cheshire housing developments – all a national problem of course.

On a wider scale, as a country, we just cannot cope anymore with the endless population growth from all quarters and expect everyone and everything to be properly catered for – impossible.

Waiting lists for primary schools, getting a doctor and some dentists are going to get even worse and an even longer wait in the traffic queues is on the cards, especially if you are trying to get in or out of Northwich peak time!

What’s the saying? Nothing changes ‘til… nothing changes!
