THE Barons Quay car park is certainly impressive and will provide visitors with a stunning entrance to our town’s new facilities.
So it was with sadness that I heard that four hours’ free parking is just that.
I’m told that it will not be possible to stay longer, however willing I might be to pay.
Just a few weeks ago the Guardian reported that the car park, restaurants and cinema reaffirm Barons Quay’s position as a complete day out.
Imagine then, having parked, introducing friends to our town.
A walk to see the marina and the chance to examine our fine bridges.
Meandering back up the High Street and noting our historic buildings.
Perhaps wandering through Bratts and making a purchase or two, stopping for a coffee before deciding to stay for a leisurely meal.
A trip to the cinema would certainly be out of the question now, and our guests would leave town thinking “Welcome to Northwich – enjoy your visit but be sure to leave within four hours”.
Either parking is unrestricted and free or unrestricted with payment machines installed.
It’s not acceptable that drivers should have to return to their cars to re-park elsewhere during their visit.
