WITH reference to the £3 million being spent on a roundabout – which is working.
From pinch point government funding at one end of the town, at the other stands a single lane bridge built during the First World War.
Close to this are hundreds of new homes being built with no plans for improvement.
Placing traffic lights on a roundabout defeats the purpose of the roundabout.
Looking at other roundabouts with a similar set-up, ie in Warrington, it is sure to cause traffic delays as well as sparking hold ups.
As if you don’t encounter enough traffic lights when travelling through Northwich.
The reason given for the revamp is to cope with traffic generated by retail and leisure developments.
Well, Memorial Court has been up and running for some time, Barons Quay is at the old single lane bridge end of town, and just how much traffic do they expect from the Lion Salt Works?
The current roundabout is functioning, the queues at the old single lane bridge show it isn’t.
Time for someone to get their priorities in order.
I Johnson Northwich
