I SHARE the frustration of A P Klyne (last week's letters) and was naturally disappointed when last Saturday’s rugby games were cancelled at Moss Farm.

I have promised to look after Moss Farm but my influence does not extend to controlling the weather and we all know how wet this winter has been.

A P Klyne does have a point though and there is no doubt that the standard of the Moss Farm pitches have been deteriorating for years. It is of course all to do with money and Brio Leisure, which is wholly owned by CWAC and runs Moss Farm do not have the budget to do the playing surfaces justice.

They do their best but they take the decision to call off games because it costs extra money to make good damaged pitches and they really are between a rock and a hard place.

I am aware of a number of issues affecting Moss Farm and I and my fellow councillor Paul Dolan are addressing them. The bottom line is that “call me Dave” and George Osborne are cutting our council budget by £57 million.

We want it back and we want George to also find the money for a new Winnington bridge.
