I AM a Waterloo Road resident and I was totally disgusted with the ambulance service on Monday, February 1.

My partner and I were driving down Beeston Street when we saw a woman lying on the pavement. She had a cover over her and her husband was present and we couldn’t stop as we were in a rush.

We came back home 45 minutes later and the lady was still there. Two people had already called an ambulance.

We stopped and I sat talking to the lady who was lying on the freezing cold floor. I may add this lady was 32 weeks pregnant so I was getting worried.

I rang the ambulance again and the call centre staff told me not to move her. They told the other two callers the same thing.

After two-and-a-half hours the ambulance finally arrived.

The first thing the paramedic said is why haven’t you tried moving her?

We told him we were told not to and he shook his head. I hope the lady and baby are both well.

I do not understand how an ambulance service can say a two-and-a-half-hour wait for a red light ambulance is ok.
