GHA Coaches blame the cancellation of some of their routes on imminent changes to bus vehicle accessibility regulations.
The legal requirement that all single deck buses had to be accessible from January 1, 2016 was set 20 years ago, in the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
The average life span of a bus is 20 years.
There has therefore been ample time for the company to fulfil its obligations in this regard.
So it’s not fair to blame the legislation - it’s the company’s issue for failing to take this into account.
One wonders just how old their buses are?
