THE news that Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust, which includes Leighton Hospital in Crewe, made a whopping £1.4 million from car par charges in 2014-15 is truly shocking.
These car parking charges are a tax on ill-health and are morally wrong.
A price that people have to pay when they are the most concerned about their loved ones.
Hospital parking charges have been abolished in Scotland and Wales for years and they should be abolished in England too, as UKIP advocated at the General Election.
The lost income could easily be reimbursed if foreigners using our NHS were charged fully for using our hospitals and health service.
The government should act now to scrap hospital car parking charges which are an outrageous tax on being ill.

UKIP Councillor
