DR PETER Hurst wrote recently regarding support to stay in the EU.
While I have the greatest respect for Mr Hurst and he points out some convincing points in favour of the polices therein, I note he does not mention that out of 37 countries within that block, 32 have a trading deficit.
While the UK wishes to trade with the rest of the world freely, I doubt these countries which are in deficit would not want to trade with Britain.
Economic growth appears to be more progressive in the outside of the EU, while we could look at a Norway policy of friendship/trade etc with Europe.
While I also hear that subsides paid to the EU would fund new building of hospitals in the UK – perhaps, having worked in the health service some years ago, there is no one better than the good doctor to confirm or respond on this one.
Also, perhaps the some of the subsides monies could go into the rail network help to restore some of the rail stations and lines axed in the Beeching period of the 1960s.
