IT HAS been announced that LA Fitness will be refurbished to become a Pure Gym with removal of the swimming pool and sauna in September/October.
This will remove a valuable facility for many people and especially hits the older generation, who favour this type of exercise, myself included.
Pure Gym/LA Fitness state that it will result in a considerably lower monthly membership; in reality about £5 a month if you had paid up front with LA Fitness.
It is very disappointing that this is happening and in my opinion not good for the community as a whole.
The net effect is that there’ll be an over supply of gym type facilities, mainly appealing to a younger generation and an under supply of swimming facilities, preferred by the growing older population.
