RARELY have I read a letter of such vague, meaningless words as that written by Peter Hirst advocating continued membership of the EU.

The phrase I would associate with the content of such a letter is ‘utter baloney’.

If there is any specific evidence to back up continued membership of a non-democratic, uncontrollable, freedom denying organisation which the EU appears to be then let’s hear it.

There are certainly no advantages in trade over dealing freely with the rest of the world, including our previously close partners of the Commonwealth.

Free from the stifling effect of EU controls, our trade with the rest of the world would boom. Nor indeed would there be any difficulty in trading with the EU if we were to return to being a free country.

And any attempt by Peter Hirst to compare this country to Andorra is beyond belief.

We all know that the so-called renegotiation process will be a complete fudge based on minor issues dressed up as something major or promises which will never materialise. After all it is being driven by politicians who are determined to keep this country part of the EU.

At the end of the day it will be the electorate of this country which will determine the future of this country. If the electorate of today is as gullible as we were in 1975 then I pity the future for us.

Hopefully we will take the approach of ‘once bitten twice shy’.

The state motto of New Hampshire is ‘Live Free or Die’, an approach which successfully drove this country forward for 1,000 years and with it the wellbeing of the population.

It is easier to destroy than build and the last 42 years of membership of the EU have seriously eroded our freedoms. And they’ve not finished yet.

With the referendum the choice will be ours.

Choose wisely; it’s your future and your children’s future.
