I REFER to ‘holidays are rather too long’, Guardian, July 29.

Our daughter lives in the Midlands and there is no suitable out-of-school club locally, so our grandson, who is eight, stays with us and goes to an out-of-school club.

It is open from 8am to 6pm and caters for children three to 11 years old.

The beauty of it is that the club is very flexible and children can come in for odd days and half days.

The club has a varied programme and days out so it certainly stimulates the kids and gives respite care to parents and grandparents.

As one of the latter, I can certainly recommend it as an alternative to children being at home getting bored all day.
