REGARDING the column by the Fly in the Ointment about motorists who hog the middle lane.
There is nothing more infuriating than these selfish, reckless people who literally drive other motorists mad. They are a liability.
A few months ago I was on the M6 and it was pretty empty so I was travelling at 70mph in the inside lane.
Before too long I ended up parallel to this middle-aged man who was blissfully travelling at around 60mph in the middle lane.
I had to slow down, get in the middle lane behind him and then overtake him in the outside lane.
Absolutely ridiculous.
What’s more, he didn’t bat an eyelid and carried on driving in the middle lane after I’d passed him.
I welcome this clampdown, but I do wonder how it is going to be policed.
On a busy day most motorists end up on the outside lane because lorries hog both lanes. They travel between 50mph and 60mph and take an age to overtake each other.
