DURING the meeting of CWAC held last Thursday in Wyvern House, I proposed an amendment to set up a similar group to the proposed residents group for Neston, looking at public transport, including improved bus travel and connectivity in and around the Winsford area.

Having an integrated transport plan resulting in affordable travel is critical to help those who are in work, for those who seek work and it should be for all of us elected to work together to achieve this.

During the debate, it was clear the amendment would not be supported by the Labour councillors of Winsford, even though they support a transport group being set up for Neston.

What was surprising was one Labour councillor who said he was not against setting up a group for Winsford yet in a named vote, voted against my proposal.

I am clear on this, the residents of Winsford need improved services and as an elected representative for the residents of Winsford I will work hard to improve these services.
