IN the past few days we have had added to the road outside our home some double yellow lines.

We are opposite a primary school outside of which are the usual zig-zag no stopping markings.

The placing of these lines can only be aimed at those of us that reside in the vicinity of the school because there is no enforcement in evidence at peak hours when parents dropping their children to school park anywhere they like, secure in the knowledge that even if a warden should appear they would claim they had only been a minute.

These lines have now caused residents, unable to park day or night outside our homes, to have to park outside the school at night after 5pm moving our cars before 8am. Stupid or what?

However a side effect of reducing the congestion is that traffic passing the school is now going faster increasing the dangers of crossing the road and putting children at risk. The school says the lines were put down at the request of the local council at the same time others claim it was the school.

Either way I believe that, despite a good safety record to date, the school crossing is now considerably more dangerous than before. I hope the responsible parties accept the blame when there is an accident.
