I AM fairly new to the area, although not new to Cheshire, even though I now live for the time being in Wales. My dear wish is to return home and I have bought a caravan in Winsford as a bolthole while I look for a suitable property to buy.

I buy the Guardian to keep up to date with property for sale and local news and over the past few weeks I have seen mention of the name Lamb on more than one occasion, which was my maiden name and which I have rarely seen over the years until now. My hobby is genealogy but I started the search with very little, the one important thing being my father's birth certificate. His name was Walter Lamb and he was born in Hulme in Manchester, as was I, but I have found that his father Abraham Lamb, my grandfather, was born in High Legh and his ancestors were all from the same area – Pickmere, Rostherne, Mere, Lower Peover, Knutsford etc. going back to the 1841 Census. When I married and moved to Cheshire, I always felt as though it was home and on discovering the above I now know why.

The purpose of this letter is to appeal to anyone who might be related to me to contact me at joandowd@outlook.com. Not having much knowledge of how to go about finding the necessary information I would be extremely grateful for any help. Joan Dowd (nee Lamb)
