I WOULD like everyone in Winsford to be aware that one person has been particularly responsible for increasing an interest in politics in the town throughout this election.

Councillor Stephen Burns' son, Michael, who is a former councillor himself, was not just campaigning on behalf of his dad through social media but democracy in the town on a whole.

I have never voted and neither has my 21 year old daughter but after reading constant status updates both directly from him and shared by others we were at the polling station on May 7.

Why was this young man not standing again this year?

I am sure that he has convinced many people on the importance of voting and I am grateful for his simple yet detailed updates.

Also, his wonderful updates of the results as they happened.

I think people on Facebook owe him a huge debt for all the information provided.
