YOUR report about plans for another 180 houses in Rudheath is astonishing given the fact they would be situated just yards away from the giant waste incinerator Tata intends to build in Lostock.

Aside from the health and nuisance issues, why would anybody in their right mind purchase a home that would be almost impossible to sell in the future after the burner becomes operational?

It beats me.

In case your readers have forgotten, the plant buildings would be about the size of Wembley Stadium.

Worse, there would be nearly 300 large diesel HGVs carrying garbage on nearby roads every day between 7am and 7pm.

The incinerator would be operating non-stop 365 days a year. For 35 years.

Everyone must feel sorry for the existing residents of Rudheath and Lostock who never asked for this in their midst but there could be no excuse for people moving in for outside.

The developers and estate agents must have told them about what is coming down their road – a constant stream of fume-belching noisy lorries loaded with smelly trash.
