I ATTENDED one of the two consultation events concerning the pre-planning application for the Ideal Standard site at Cledford Lane.

The lack of advertising, a couple of posters outside the community hall, was the main reason that the majority of the residents of Middlewich were not even aware of the events.

Cheshire East stated that it had been advertised on radio, facebook and twitter and delivered letters to 20 houses.

Apparently 50 people attended on Friday night and 50 on Saturday - 100 out of the 14,000 residents of Middlewich – enough said.

As far as the site itself is concerned, why put this proposed waste transfer station in a residential area when there is another site less than a third of a mile away at the RHM site which is outside the town and with its own access road?

What effect will this have on existing house prices and the proposed new builds happening in the town? Do the residents get a reduction in council tax for the obvious inconvenience?

My main concerns are the obvious impact on the traffic, disruption, noise pollution, air pollution and light pollution that this site will have.

Cledford Lane bridge struggles to cope at present with the volume of traffic going over it. Booth Lane is getting churned up by large vehicles and the state of the road in the centre of town near Townbridge is a disgrace.

How will Middlewich cope with even more air polluting vehicles churning up the roads in the town?

Be prepared for more car drivers to put in claims for damaged vehicles due to the road maintenance programme being lacking.

The site is to work 6.30am until 10pm, how can this not be disruptive to residents due to noise, light and smell? The site will be attractive to vermin, already an issue due to the vicinity of the canal and with food waste being transferred this will increase as well as the appearance of seagulls.

When construction commences, what steps will be put in place to prevent disruption from construction vehicles, construction noise etc? Construction is a noisy industry and this will impact on the local residents.

Well done Cheshire East on railroading your plans, with no consideration for the people.
