I WAS saddened to learn of the death of Bob Robinson, former Northwich Town Council Mayor, who passed away recently.

Bob made a wonderful contribution to the life of the town of Northwich and supported many local organisations, helping them in their fundraising endeavours and working tirelessly for the town of Northwich as a long-serving councillor who served two terms as Northwich Town Council Mayor in 2008 and 2013.

Tribute was paid to him at his funeral regarding his service in the Military Police and later as a motorcycle traffic police officer.

On his retirement from the police force, Bob served the Army Cadet Force in Weaverham where he rose to the rank of major.

I fondly remember Remembrance Day parades in Northwich where Bob, together with his Red Cap comrades from the Military Police, cut a colourful figure.

Neither Northwich nor Remembrance Sunday events will be quite the same without him.

My sincere condolences to Bob's wife, Jan and family.

My thoughts are with them at this very sad time.
