I WRITE concerning the recent news that Cheshire East Council has no funds to complete the Middlewich Eastern Bypass according to Clr David Topping.

I find this extraordinary, as much of the ongoing and proposed development in Middlewich is dependent upon this scheme.

The developments off Warmingham Lane, the Transit Site for the travelling community and the waste and recycling depot for ANSA will all add to traffic movements on the east side of the town.

Not only must the bypass be finished before these projects are finished, there must be a junction from it directly onto Cledford Lane.

This is the only way congestion and safety issues along Booth Lane can be alleviated, something your paper has highlighted recently.

There must be an embargo of further work on these projects until the money is found and a commitment is made to completing this road by a date that is prior to the extra traffic being generated.
