DUCKS, swans and birds being fed, a fisherman spending a day on the bank of the River Dane and a narrow boat moored and making use of the town.

All this will be lost when the solid eight foot wall above the level of car park is put in place from the Dane bridge all the way round to the town bridge.

The height will be to the top of the hand rail on the top of the Dane bridge.

It will be over two feet higher than myself as seen standing in my car park.

I agree that action is required for flood defence but if a wall is the answer then a demountable construction for part of it, 20 foot or so, must be made so that this facility is not lost.

The flood defence in other towns that I have visited, enhance the look of the area and keep the use of the rivers but the cheapest option is being used here.

Further construction is also to be made on the Waitrose side but a visiting engineer for the proposed construction said that ‘it only floods on my side of the river’.... interesting.
